Job Description
Walton Medical Centre are currently looking to recruit aGP Assistant to jointheir position is offered on a part-time basis for 16 hours per week days to be discussed. We would expect some flexibility to help cover sickness and holiday when needed.
This is a post developed to deliver better outcomes for patients by supporting GPs within appointments and with necessary paperwork. Your tasks will include:
- Sorting all clinical post and prioritising for the GP in terms of actions.
- Extracting all information from clinical letters that needs coding and adding to notes.
- Arranging appointments referrals tests and follow up appointments of patients.
- Preparing patients prior to going in to see the GP taking a brief history and basic readings in readiness for the GP appointment.
- Dipping urine taking blood pressure ECGs and phlebotomy.
- Explaining treatment procedures to patients.
You should also be able to deal with patient and hospital queries and complete surgery specific duties such as referral sending using correct referral pathways audit and coding.
About the Candidate
- Experience of working with the general public.
- Previous adminstration experience.
- Experience taking blood pressure ECGs and phlebotomy.
- Experience of working in a healthcare setting.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong IT skills.
- Healthcare qualification (level 3 or 4) or working towards gaining equivalent level.
- Experience of working in a primary care environment.
About Us
Walton Medical Practice is situated in the traditional seaside resort of Walton on the Naze on the Essex Coast. They have a list size of just over 8300 patients. As well as 2 partners and 2 salaried GPs thepractice team also includes a pharmacy technician paramedic a nursing team of 10 and an efficient and effective reception and administrative team of 18.
The Colte Partnership is a GP super-partnership formed in June 2017. It brought together 9 local GP surgeries across Colchester and Tendring serving approx. 98000 patients. With the combined workforce skills and knowledge we are in a unique position to assist our patients across the county.
As well as general practice we offer Extended Access appointments to enable all of our patients to access medical care at evening and weekends; we work collaboratively with external agencies to provide in home services and Social Prescribing; we are working to be at the forefront of clinical research; and have many more exciting ventures on the horizon.
We also work as three collaborativePrimary Care Networks (PCNs) which span across Colchester and Tendring:
- Ambrose Avenue Group Practice Riverside Medical Centre and Ardleigh Surgery
- Mersea Island Medical Practice Tiptree Medical Centre and Rowhedge Medical Centre
- Walton Medical Centre Colne Medical Centre and Wivenhoe Medical Centre
