The Church of the Immaculate Conception Parish and School in Towson Maryland is seeking a mission-driven experienced Director of Development to lead and expand its fundraising efforts. This individual will be responsible for growing the annual appeal supporting fundraising events cultivating major donors and identifying grant opportunities for both the parish and the school. The Director of Development is a key member of the Parish and School Leadership Team and reports directly to the Pastor. The role also involves close collaboration with the School Principal on school-related budgets and fundraising initiatives as well as with the Director of Parish Operations on parish benefits budgeting and related addition to the duties listed below the Director of Development shall perform other duties as assigned. The duties listed below are all the responsibility of the Director; however where appropriate some of these duties may be delegated to and performed by other staff members or volunteers under the supervision of the Director of Development. This is a salaried position.
Essential Functions:
- Grow and manage the parishs annual appeals including strategy donor outreach stewardship and reporting.
- Establish and manage the schools annual fund including strategy donor outreach stewardship and reporting.
- Develop and maintain relationships with major donors working in collaboration with the parish and school to cultivate and solicit significant gifts.
- Identify and pursue grant opportunities from foundations corporations and other institutional funders.
- Promote understanding acceptance and support of the vision and mission statements and objectives of the parish and school.
- Work with both the parish and school communications and marketing but these two areas do not fall under the managerial purview of the Director of Development.
- Ensure that data related to prospects and donors is recorded and tracked in our management system; manage campaign record keeping evaluate progress toward
goals prepare periodic reports on fundraising and present to the parish and school and recommend revisions to the fundraising plan as needed to meet goals. - Assist with fundraising events as needed with initial planning coordination and execution.
Position Qualifications:
- Degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a preferred major course of study in development public relations communications or related field.
- Three years of professional experience in fundraising with a track record of success with specific experience in capital campaigns individual giving and/or major gifts
and the tracking and monitoring of pledges; or an experience in sales that requires building relationships. - Preference given to a practicing Catholic with a commitment to evangelization.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities initiatives and projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Ability to use a computer utilizing Microsoft Office including Word and Excel Microsoft Outlook and a web browser is required.
Pay Range: $70000 - 80000 (with opportunity for a 1% AIP on non-government monies based upon fundraising goals)
