Job Description

We are seeking Licensed Veterinary Technicians for the Northwest Spay & Neuter Center which provides spay neuter wellness and (coming soon) dentistry services to income qualified homes and local animal welfare agencies. Northwest Spay & Neuter Center is the largest spay and neuter center in Washington state providing over 14000 surgeries and over 5000 wellness exams per year.
Pay Range $26.00 hour - $31.00 hour

What youll be doing (as part of a team with training):
  • Animal Support:
    • Administer anesthesia including intubation and monitoring
    • Administer controlled substances with oversight
    • Examination of incoming animals
    • Daily care feeding bathing and hygiene
    • Initial health tests vaccinations and treatment for internal and external parasites
    • Assisting with monitoring surgery dentistry and wellness of shelter and public-owned animals
  • Clinic Support:
    • Maintaining inventory of food cleaning and safety supplies needed for the clinic
    • Training new veterinary staff and clinic volunteers
    • Promoting a positive image of the organization through positive public relations
    • Attending board meetings and fundraising events as needed
What youll need to be successful (minimum requirements):
  • Licensed in Washington State as a Veterinary Technician.
  • Ability to engage with animals and humans who may be having a hard day with a commitment to quality care.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow instructions verbal or written in repetitious tasks and one-off situations.
  • Strong communication skills to demonstrate professionalism courtesy tact compassion and sound judgment to your coworkers and community members.
  • Frequent ability to stand walk or sit for extended periods of time; hear sufficiently; reach bend or stoop regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • This position works daily in a wellness and surgery clinic.
  • This position will come in direct contact with animals and will be exposed to animal related smells and sounds.
What wed love if you had (preferred requirements):
  • Work experience as a Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician.
  • Experience in shelter medicine/HQHVSN.
