The Diocese of Lansingis currently seeking a Mission Cooperative Appeals Coordinator - We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Catholic with a passion for supporting missionary this role you will collaborate with missionaries and missionary organizations from around the world coordinating their appeals across parishes throughout the diocese. The position is part-time averaging 8 to 10 hours per week and can be accomplished remotely.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Coordinate the Mission Cooperative Appeal by working with missionaries and the missionary entity (dioceses religious orders communities or lay ministries) to schedule appeals in the Diocese of Lansing parishes.
  • Receive review and evaluate requests for inclusion from Mission groups as they arrive.
  • Ensure accurate information is on assigned diocesan website pages.
  • Review and update the DOL MCP Agreement and furnish this to parishes and Mission groups to communicate parish responsibilities. Confirm the invited missionarys credentials including but not limited to Letters of Suitability to ensure each missionary is valid. Perform appropriate background research and due diligence as necessary. Make this information available to the Chancellor the priest assigned to oversee MCA and the Bishop.
  • Collect all necessary documentation to facilitate an effective and timely transfer of funds following the appeal including but not limited to bank wire information on the Missions letterhead signed by the recipients Bishop Superior or Board President. Provide this information to the accounting department 30 days prior to the appeal.
  • Resolve issues with parishes and missions as necessary regarding both the Missioners assignments and financial questions.
  • Follow up with each host parish to ensure satisfactory appeal collecting and reviewing evaluations. If there are issues resolve them with the missionary entity.
  • Follow up with each missionary entity to obtain appropriate confirmation of receipt of funds.
Provide educational opportunities for priests and parish staff to understand why and how the Diocese of Lansing participates in the MCP as part of the universal Church.
Coordinate a Mission Appeal Advisory Board and meetings to select missionaries review and revise policies and procedures as needed.

Requirements:

An associates degree in office management or equivalent experience is required. Must have strong organizational skills. Must be tenacious about getting the required information collected promptly to ensure a smooth appeal. Must be able to work with foreign-born missionaries foreign charities and religious orders. It is required that the individual meet with the Chancellor and the diocesan priest assigned to oversee the MCA regularly.
