Public Safety Telecommunicator (911 Dispatcher)Our PSTs are the lifeline between our community and our deputies!

Responsible for receiving processing and managing time-life critical emergency non-emergency dispatch calls for service and administrative calls for service; operating the 911 console; receiving routing and dispersing telephone calls/messages; and providing assistance to the public/agency employees/other county personnel. Duties also include completing assignments/special projects as directed; completing updating and submitting required reports/documents/forms; and maintaining control of and following up on incoming correspondence/action with routine office procedures. Ability to communicate and enunciate clearly. Ability to work well during stressful situations. Ability to access input and retrieve information from a computer. Ability to sit for long periods of time. Works rotating shifts includingdays evenings nights weekends and holidays.
Minimum qualifications:- High school diploma GED or equivalent.
- Typing 25 wpm.
- Ability to multitask.
- Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential and professional manner.
- Performs effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- No previous experience is switchboard or radio experience is helpful.
- Certifications arenot requiredfor hire. All training will be provided.
Training will begin at the call-taking position. Prior experience and certification may considerably limit the time required in training.
