Primary Function/General Purpose of Position -

The Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Technician provides technical skills in obtaining electrocardiograph tracings routine exercise stress testing exercise testing with nuclear medicine and Holter Monitor application and scanning if applicable in specific Non-Invasive Cardiology department.

Essential Job Functions

  • Gathers relevant personal information from patients record.
  • Prepares and instructs patients on the proper procedures to follow.
  • Transports portable electrocardiograph to hospital units and administers electrocardiograms to inpatients or to out-patients in the lab area.
  • Performs stress/nuclear stress tests with treadmill observing tracings for abnormalities.
  • Scans Holter Monitors observing tracings for abnormalities if applicable.
  • Ensures tests results are placed in proper physician reading box for interpretation.
  • Responsible for proper record keeping data storage and retrieval.
  • Responsible for cleanliness of equipment and cleanliness and order of lab area.
  • Notifies appropriate personnel of need for specific lab supplies.
  • Communicates professionally with personnel in the lab and in other areas of the hospital.
  • Trains hospital staff on EKG process and equipment.
  • Attends staff meetings as scheduling permits. Is responsible for reading minutes to obtain information presented if unable to attend
