The Finance Division reports to the Chief Financial Officer and consists of some 3000 employees worldwide. Finance protects the Morgan Stanley franchise by serving as guardian of the Firms books and records and by contributing to firm wide risk management and risk reduction. Finance plays a critical role as advisor to Morgan Stanleys various businesses and its senior management team.
Global Team Profile
The Finance Data team owns the Data Quality Governance framework for the Finance Division. The team promotes best practices for data management with a focus on data quality. The team has global coverage and interacts with members across all areas of the Firm including Finance Operations Institutional Securities Firm Risk Wealth Management Technology and external stakeholders.
Role Description
The Finance Data Governance team has responsibility for providing oversight on Global Data Quality Policy and BCBS 239 execution. The Firmwide principles establish and communicate best practices to effectively manage data to assess the impact of data challenges and to prioritize the remediation of issues related to data across the Firm.
Given the heightened focus on adequate data quality governance this is a growing team in the Glasgow office and presents a great opportunity to help shape the function going forward and gain exposure to a wide ranger of functions products and management across Morgan Stanley.
B Standard Description of Division and JA Job Family In the Finance division we act as a partner to business units around the globe by providing management review analysis and advisory services of the Firms financial and capital resources. What youll do in the role:
-Collaborate with a varied group of colleagues in Finance and across the Firm
-Responsible for and lead aspects of individual and team deliverables and projects leveraging in-depth knowledge of Finance functional area product and/or client segments
-Adhere to the Firms risk and regulatory standards policies and controls; proactively identify ways to reduce risk in work
-Act as a culture carrier; embody and set an example of the Firms values and hold yourself and others accountable to Firm standards
-Manage the delivery of an international portfolio of projects and business as usual work to deliver ongoing compliance with the Firmwide and Regulatory Issue Management standards.
-Understanding the Firmwide Global Data Quality Policy and its application within Finance adopting a risk- based approach to prioritising / resolving any potential gaps to policy compliance.
-Working with global colleagues to build and document internal processes and controls identifying opportunities for ongoing improvement.
-Analyze and interpret datasets in Excel and Alteryx workflows summarising and presenting findings to management.
-Manage the preparation of high quality materials for multiple internal forums as well as for internal senior management. What youll bring to the role:
-In-depth knowledge of Finance functional area product and/or client segment and technical skills as well as of industry and competitive environment
-Ability to operate independently with respect to most job responsibilities
-Ability to provide positive and constructive feedback and innovate processes
-Self-motivated with the ability to work consistently and efficiently to achieve goals either as an individual or as part of a team.
-Experience of interpreting summarising and presenting results in a meaningful format.
-Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) and ability to engage with colleagues/clients of all levels.
-Highly numerate with an attention to detail and accuracy.
-Strong Microsoft application skills (Excel PowerPoint Word)
-Strong Excel skills.
-Accounting background and knowledge of Financial Statements; qualified or part-qualified accountant is a plus.
-Understanding and experience of data governance concepts is a plus.
-Experience within the Financial Services Industry is a plus.
-Domain knowledge in Capital markets including understanding of financial products (e.g.: Options Futures etc.) domains (reference data risk data etc.) is a plus.
-At least 4 years relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role
