Job Summary

In this role you will:

    • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
    • Implementing hygiene program elements and creating exposure control plans
    • Experience working effectively with hourly and management employees as well as Occupational Health and Safety Committees
    • Assist with optimizing the industrial hygiene program which will include conducting ergonomic evaluations tracking equipment inventory and conducting surveys
    • Collect a variety of occupational hygiene samples including noise particulate and other airborne contaminants
    • Support the hearing conservation program chemical management plan and respiratory protection program
    • Manage contractor pre-clearance and access systems
    • Facilitate safety training for hourly and management employees
    • Create and evaluate innovative ideas and technologies to help improve the way we do business

Requirements:

    • Working towards an Undergraduate/Graduate degree or diploma in Occupational Hygiene Occupational and Environmental Health or Industrial Hygiene
    • A valid Class 5 Drivers License or extra-provincial equivalent without learners restrictions is preferred
    • Motivated self-starters able to work under minimal supervision and be able to manage several projects simultaneously
    • Comfortable working in a dynamic work environment with a willingness to work outdoors and able to operate vehicles at our operations in various weather conditions and terrain
    • Strong written verbal and interpersonal communication skills with a capability to communicate complex ideas to all levels
    • Excellent computer skills with the ability to track and analyze data as well as manage project timelines
    • Strong working knowledge of MS Word and Excel is necessary and a working knowledge of PowerPoint and Access
    • Impeccable record keeping and excellent organizational skills
    • Experience working in mining or heavy industry considered an asset

$4033 - $5092 a month
Salary is commensurate with the number of academic semesters and prior co-op experiences completed.
