Job Description:

The Building Utilities Mechanicpositionisresponsibleforthe maintenanceandemergencyrepairofthe heatingsystems maintaining & repairing the buildings grounds and equipment at Hennepin Technical College to ensure the smooth operation of the property.

coordination with and in absence of the Chief Engineer maintain boiler operation and air handling systems compressors pumps and chiller units chemical testing andyearly shutdown & cleaning for state inspections.

2. Serve in the rotation for required weekend boiler checks.
* 1st Class C Boilers license is required.

Salary Range: $29.93 - $34.52 / hourly; $62493 - $72077 / annually

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current 1st Class C boiler license
  • Knowledge and skills in the methods materials tools and equipment used in trades work sufficient to assist skilled trades staff in the completion of assigned projects.
  • Ability to perform semi-skilled trades work sufficient to complete minor trades plumbing electrical HVAC and/or electrical systems and equipment.
  • Ability to perform minor repairs and adjustments to machinery and equipment including the general maintenance and minor repairs of buildings.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions sufficient to interpret and carry out assignments in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Skills in using hand and power tools and other trades equipment.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety measures related to trades work sufficient to safely and efficiently perform the job duties.
  • Ability to provide work direction to unskilled helpers.
  • Sufficient mobility (such as climb stoop bend crawl twist etc.) and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Organizational and human relations skills
