Job Description
Water & Sewer Topman (OUT OF TOWN WORK)
Firma Contracting is currently seeking an experienced Topman to work on underground / water & sewer projects across Western Canada. We offer competitive wages for out of town work LOA work / life balance great opportunity for advancement training and potential for work over the winter.
Duties include (but are not limited to):
- Work with the Lead Hand and foreman to determine work planning and flow
- Establish grade for water storm and sanitary pipe
- Cut and bevel pipe
- Work closely with the pipelayer to respond to materials needed
- Rig and assist with supplying materials to the ditch maintain a high level of communication with the ditch crew and operators to ensure safety quality and timing
- Complete site documentation as required
- Participate in inspections and incidents - address deficiencies / issues through corrective actions
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner with honesty and integrity
Required Skills:
- 2 years of Top Man experience
- Underground utility rehabilitation / replacement experience is an asset
- Ability to read blueprints and grade sheets
- Ability to use an eye level with geodetic capabilities
- Safety conscious
- Strong understanding of pipe installation process and flow logistics
- Competent in the use of various rigging techniques and mechanisms
- Organized and always one step ahead of the ditch
- Able to work independently and follow instruction from the foreman
- Able to support other positions as needed
- Strong communication skills provide instructions clearly with sufficient detail
- Ability to mentor workers for advancement
- Consistent reliable and always show up for work fit for duty
Required Certifications:
- CSTS 2020
- WHMIS 2015
- Confined Space is an asset
- Ground Disturbance Level 2 is an asset
