Position Summary:
The Senior Advisor Congregational Engagement is a key member of the Global Relationships and Resources team responsible for cultivating and managing a portfolio of Lutheran congregations that partner with Lutheran World Relief. This role focuses on building and stewarding relationships with pastors leaders and members to grow financial support increase engagement and represent the mission of Corus International and its LWR addition to directly raising funds through visits solicitations stewardship preaching and group presentations the Senior Advisor contributes to the development of strategies that will help the team achieve its ambitious revenue goals. The Senior Advisor helps congregations understand how their gifts benefit families around the world.
This role requires extensive travel and primarily serves congregations in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern regions including PA DE MD DC VA NC SC GA and FL. Other areas may be added as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Network and partner with congregations by developing gifts deepening relationships and generating new donor leads.
- Communicate the mission of Lutheran World Relief to inspire and motivate congregations and members to engage and support the mission.
- Develop and manage a portfolio of regional prospects.
- Develop and execute thoughtful innovative and individualized strategies for qualification cultivation solicitation and stewardship of donors and involve program colleagues and organizational leaders as appropriate.
- Contribute to the development of engagement strategies that double revenue.
- Work closely with the Director Congregational Engagement to create and measure regional revenue objectives and key results for portfolio assignments.
- Regularly utilize Raisers Edge to record all interactions with donors and manage solicitation plans and revenue projections in a timely manner.
- Assist the Director with regional volunteer(s) events and regional strategies.
- Undertake special projects and assignments to advance the mission of Corus International.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree and a minimum of 7 years professional and relevant work experience; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Degree in ministry CFRE or other relevant training is preferred.
- Experience must include a proven track record of successfully engaging congregations and mission-aligned groups in fundraising efforts including creatively connecting audiences to the agencys mission and inspiring support through financial donations and in-kind contributions.
- Experience developing fundraising communications with theological interpretation that is donor centric.
- Experience in utilizing customer relationship management (CRM) software to manage donor relationships.
- Experience in writing effective proposals summaries and reports and updates for fundraising purposes.
- Familiarity with international faith-based organizations working in the relief and development sector and an understanding of how these organizations operate and what motivates them.
- Must have a current and valid drivers license.
- Ability to travel and visit donors and attend Corus meetings up to 50% of the time.
- Ability to comfortably engage with faith-based donors and congregational leaders.
- Ability to lead face-to-face meetings and the confidence to solicit funding using effective and appropriate language.
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to present opportunities and reports to a congregation in a variety of settings including worship forums small groups and one-on-one.
- Skilled in the art of closing the gift with donors.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven experience in utilizing compelling donor materials and pitches that inspire action and support.
- Collaborative team-oriented work style with self-motivation and drive to get the job done with little supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Lutheran organizations is helpful.

Working Conditions Travel and Environment
- For hybrid roles Corus has a hybrid work policy allowing work to be done remotely; two days per week (Tuesday and Wednesday) in the office is required. The employee must be available to work outside normal office hours or weekends as required.
- This position must be able to travel as required for standard domestic business purposes.
- Must have authorization to work in the country of assignment.
