The Internship
We are looking for curious and motivated engineering interns with strong software skills and a passion for making robotics work in the real world. Youll contribute to building the systems tools and APIs that enable users to get value from advanced algorithms whether thats robotics platform software computer vision training and deployment pipelines or application features that improve usability in manufacturing environments. This role is ideal for someone excited to bridge research and practice and who thrives on seeing ideas turn into working scalable systems.
The Team
This internship will be embedded within our Opportunity Discovery and Technology Adoption (ODTA) department within TRI Robotics division. The ODTA team is dedicated to achieving real-world impact for the groundbreaking research produced within our robotics division. We work closely with our experts in mobile manipulation robotics user experience designers and our prototyping & research operations team at TRI. As a member of the team you will be working on software needed for our robotics research to succeed in the field.
Responsibilities
- Develop software features for applications to advance usability in manufacturing environments.
- Build tooling and interfaces to facilitate scaling performance and customer self service.
- Partner with a multidisciplinary team including other engineers and research scientists across ODTA Robotics and Toyota.
- Stay up to date on the state-of-the-art in robotics machine learning and computer vision techniques happening across the Robotics division.
Qualifications
- Pursuing a BS or MS degree in Robotics Engineering Computer Science or a related field.
- Strong software engineering skills in Python and/or C.
- Desire to work on deploying innovative robotic systems in real-world environments.
- Shown initiative outside of studies (e.g. demonstrable projects volunteering etc).
- A team player with strong communication skills and a willingness to learn from others.
- Passionate about seeing robotics have a real-world large-scale impact.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $45 and $65/hour for California-based roles. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors including but not limited to business or organizational needs market location job-related knowledge skills and experience.
