Job Summary This product management position will work collaboratively with counterparts in MGA Information Management to develop strategies for signature IEEE platforms that convene and engage member and non-member audiences focusing on delivering consumer and member value in online professional networking collaboration and volunteer development. The Senior Manager Member Platforms will also develop plans and lead efforts to drive awareness registrations usage and new member recruitment leading to high user satisfaction and strong member value perception. This role will lead operations and administration including volunteer training issue resolution and communication of technical issues and opportunities to Information Management. Specific platforms include IEEE Collabratec IEEE Volunteering and other platforms as assigned.
The successful candidate will be an experienced senior product manager in the business-to-consumer online services space with a proven track record of data-informed product decisions online platform marketing and incorporating customer feedback. This role will have budgetary responsibility as it relates to marketing and administration and manage the finances (including P&L and non-technical service provider payments) and work with Information Management to liaise between internal teams as well as with external vendors and IEEE volunteer committees.
Reporting to the Director Member Products & Programs this position has two direct reports and will work closely with MGA Information Management in a matrix management structure to ensure the technical aspects of the platforms are aligned with the goals of increasing reach driving improved user satisfaction delivering increased awareness and engagement and expanding financial return.
Key Responsibilities
(50%) Platform Marketing and Operations
Operations of each platform shall be executed in alignment with program strategy and plans
In partnership with marketing and communications staff as well as external agency vendors establish positioning and priorities for driving awareness and new registrations for the platforms with special attention to increasing adoption by IEEE members and affiliated audiences.
Drive improvements to the user experience and make recommendations to Information Management for enhancements and prioritization of partnership with MGA and IEEE research teams identify and implement user group research agenda and use findings to inform marketing positioning and recommendations for platform enhancements.
Drive repeat visitation to the platforms through the implementation of features and promotions that best leverage the platforms core capabilities and positioning. Drive delivery of programs engagement reporting and metrics dashboards in alignment with program goals as well as IEEE and MGA strategic objectives.
Identify financial return opportunities and drive the platforms total financial return inclusive of income that is direct to the platforms as well as expense control through consolidation of products and targeted marketing support for IEEE products and services. Develops financial advertising or sponsorship plans and coordinate with internal partners and/or external vendors to execute.
(20%) Platform Strategy and Planning
Partner with MGA Information Management to develop strategic direction for for each platform life cycle by defining and implementing processes that drive ongoing enhancements and updates to ensure the platforms not only meet todays needs but anticipate the future needs of members customers users and stakeholders
In collaboration with Information Management and cross-functional stakeholders prepare and deliver annual updates to platform strategic roadmaps and business plans presenting these to senior staff and volunteer committees
Responsible for the non-technical portions of the platform budgets and related partnership with information management collaborate on budget planning monthly forecasting invoice approval accounting reconciliation and statement preparation.
Drive analysis and evaluation of the platforms to ensure prudent data driven decision making and optimization of platform capabilities expanding or sunsetting features as needed. This includes gathering feedback from customers and users as well as analyzing usage of the site and conducting regular review of competitive platforms
(15%) Staff Management
Manage goal-setting status reporting coaching and performance evaluation of 2 direct reports.
Operating in a matrix-management accountability structure work closely with Information Management staff and staff of other OUs
(15%) Governance
Serve as a liaison for the platforms to appropriate senior staff and volunteer leadership and ensure effective status reporting and/or proposals to volunteer boards. This also includes preparing materials and presenting to the various volunteer and staff oversight committees.
