Were seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team focused on building the foundational infrastructure and services behind Sony Pictures next-generation streaming this role youll architect and develop highly scalable APIs backend services and system integrations that power core streaming features across multiple business models and user experiences.
This is a high-impact engineering position ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex systems problems driving platform evolution and helping scale streaming services to serve millions of users.
Key Responsibilities
- Design develop and maintain scalable cloud-native backend services that support core streaming platform capabilities such as content management metadata playback scheduling entitlement and more.
- Build and optimize APIs that enable internal and external teams to deliver consistent high-performance video experiences across platforms.
- Collaborate closely with architects DevOps and product managers to design extensible service interfaces and system boundaries.
- Contribute to service orchestration data flow optimization and performance tuning across a microservices-based architecture.
- Integrate with a variety of internal systems and external services (e.g. CDN APIs authentication entitlement SSAI analytics).
- Drive high standards for software quality testability observability and deployment automation.
- Participate in architecture reviews design sessions sprint planning and technical mentoring.
Qualifications
Required:
- 5 years of experience developing backend systems or platform infrastructure in a production environment.
- Proficiency in C#/.NET and working experience with Go or Python.
- Solid understanding of API design microservices architecture and distributed systems patterns.
- Experience with cloud-native development (preferably AWS) including services like Lambda ECS DynamoDB SQS and API Gateway.
- Familiarity with CI/CD workflows version control and automated testing frameworks.
- Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to navigate complex system interdependencies.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills; comfortable working across technical and non-technical teams.
Preferred:
- Experience supporting video streaming platforms especially backend systems related to playback metadata entitlement or content pipelines.
- Knowledge of advertising technologies such as SSAI ad beacons or video analytics (a plus but not the focus of the role).
- Hands-on experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk CloudWatch or Datadog.
- Experience working with global teams vendor partners or hybrid delivery environments.
The anticipated base salary for this position is $120K to $170K. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors including without limitation the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position years of relevant experience level of education attained certifications or other professional licenses held and if applicable the location of the position.
