What you will do:

  • Administer the operational and governance processes that support s the Business Continuity Program ensuring alignment with corporate policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Execute communication protocols as directed to facilitate the efficient continuation of business operations during a disruption or emergency event.

  • Identify and evaluate gaps in business continuity emergency response and disaster recovery plans across business units.

  • Assist business units in analyzing essential and time-sensitive functions to determine appropriate recovery time objectives (RTOs) and required resources

  • Conduct periodic audits and testing of business continuity plans to validate content accuracy and completeness. Ensure key personnel are identified and trained to execute their roles during a business interruption

  • Coordinate and document business test results in support of technology recovery exercises. Collaborate with internal departments to ensure business requirements are incorporated into continuity strategies and testing protocols

  • Support training and awareness initiatives by assisting business units in educating employees on business continuity plans procedures and responsibilities

  • Partner with Privacy and Information Security teams to support compliance efforts and mitigate continuity-related risks

  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the Business Continuity Program and organizational preparedness.

What youll need to succeed:

  • One to three (13) years of experience in business continuity management risk management information systems support change management or disaster recovery planning.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint including the ability to create reports and presentations that support continuity planning and stakeholder communication.

  • Exposure to or participation in business continuity training sessions and testing exercises.

  • Familiarity with the health insurance industry or other regulated environments preferred.

  • Foundational knowledge of business continuity principles; certification such as Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP) is preferred.

  • Experience or familiarity with Business Continuity Planning software platforms and Emergency Notification tools.

  • Basic understanding of applicable federal state and local regulatory requirements related to business continuity and emergency preparedness.

  • Proven problem-solving abilities to address challenges with innovative solutions.

  • Competence in project management including planning execution and stakeholder coordination.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse individuals and teams in both individual and group settings.

  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills with the agility to manage shifting priorities and deadlines.

  • Strong time management and workflow coordination skills in deadline-driven environments.

  • Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to remain productive and engaged in remote work settings.

Location:
BCBSRI is headquartered in downtown Providence conveniently located near the train station and bus terminal. We actively support associate well-being and work/life balance and offer the following schedules based on role:

  • In-office: onsite 5 days per week
  • Hybrid: onsite 2-4 days per week
  • Remote: onsite 0-1 days per week. Permitted to reside in the following states pending approval from the Human Resources Department: Arizona Connecticut Florida Georgia Louisiana Massachusetts North Carolina Oklahoma Rhode Island South Carolina Texas Virginia
