POSITION SUMMARY:
The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and directing the activities of employees involved in manufacturing operations. Key responsibilities include training and supervising staff fostering a positive work environment ensuring adherence tosafety standards and enforcing company policies and procedures. This role also involves monitoring departmental performance reporting on key metrics and working to achieve production goals as established by the management team. The supervisor plays a critical role in maintaining operational efficiency and driving continuous improvement.
IDEAL EXPERIENCE:
- 2-4 years of experience in a manufacturing operation or supervisory role.
- Strong proficiency in computer applications including ERP systems (Epicor/Vantage experience is a plus) and Microsoft Office.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with team members across various departments. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey critical information for operational success.
- Adaptability to sudden operational changes and challenges.
- Experience working in a capacity-constrained manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience in a unionized workplace is preferred.
COMPETENCES:
- Supervise all production activities performed by employees.
- Maintain a high degree of visibility and access to employees throughout the shift.
- Maintain department standards for productivity reliability and accuracy.
- Maintain data on individual employee performance to department standards.
- Responsible for providing feedback to employees on performance through informal (day to day interaction) and formal methods (yearly written appraisal documented disciplinary action).
- Monitor and report daily production results material usage waste and downtime. Evaluate any gapsto department goals and provides explanation and corrective actionsfor gaps.
- Maintain employee timecards and approvals for payroll on a weekly basis
- Support cost reduction 5S and continuous improvement efforts.
- Report equipment problems to appropriate maintenance department personnel.
- Coordinate with quality control to maintain standards
- Take appropriate corrective measures to resolve deficiencies.
- Assist under guidance from the Operations Manager with development & implementation of policies and procedures for personnel issues including but not limited to rewards disciplinary action time daily and weekly overtime hiring and training.
- Perform required administrative tasks; prepares required reports and correspondence including assigned KPI reporting.
- Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of equipment and facilities; take corrective action to resolve deficiencies.
- Resolve production-related issues with representatives from other departments throughout the company.
- Maintain a working knowledge of all operating systems pertaining to the work area.
- Participate in safety programs and all required safety training for employees and coordinate tracking with HR.
- Perform other duties assigned by manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2-4 years manufacturing/supervisory experience Knowledge of Microsoft applications
- Familiarizations with ISO 9001:2015 a plus
- Conflict resolution skills
- Previous experience in a union shop a plus
- Intermediate math skills
- Knowledge of metal and/or tube drawing and firearm products a plus
