Job Description:

Must-haves
Must have Paralegal certification
Must have litigation experience corporate litigation is a huge plus. (managed care healthcare or health plan background)
Litigation skills: Document review legal documents strong writing skills
Minimum of 3 years of paralegal experience in a health plan or health care organization setting handling complex assignments relating to regulatory public law or health care issues

Experience to avoid: no family law or personal injury law. These areas of law experience are not relevant.

Job Summary:
The Paralegal III provides support on all aspects of legal matters handled by the department including:
Litigation (pre-litigation and arbitrations)
Transactional support (vendor/provider contracts policies procedures agreements)
Regulatory matters
Works under minimal supervision by an attorney.

Key Responsibilities:
Research and Analysis (50%)
Conduct complex legal and regulatory research
Draft summaries correspondence memos and legal documents
Investigate facts and coordinate document collection
Facilitate department trainings
Develop SOPs and guidelines

Administrative (35%)
Organize and maintain departmental files
Provide administrative support (scheduling document management etc.)
Plan and manage legal projects
Mentor junior staff and interns
Recommend process improvements

Other Duties (15%)
Perform additional tasks as assigned

Required Skills : Education Requirements: Required: Bachelors Degree (or equivalent experience) Preferred: Masters Degree Experience Requirements: Required: 3 years paralegal experience in healthcare or health plan setting OR 5 years experience with public agency regulations (e.g. Brown Act HIPAA CMS Medi-Cal) Experience in highly regulated industries Preferred: 7 years paralegal experience in vendor/provider contracts or administrative law Experience in matter/project management Skills: Required: Proficiency in legal technology and research platforms Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Excellent communication and writing skills Proactive responsive and self-starting Effective time management and prioritization Preferred: Familiarity with legal tech teleconferencing secure file transfer tool Must-haves Must have Paralegal certification Must have litigation experience corporate litigation is a huge plus.
