ETL Tester / ETL QA Analyst needed for 6 Months Cont Onsite Role Toronto ON

Role Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented ETL QA Analyst for a 6-month contract to join our data services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy integrity and reliability of our data pipelines and data warehouse systems. This role involves designing and executing comprehensive test strategies for our ETL (Extract Transform Load) processes to guarantee high-quality data for business intelligence and reporting
Responsibilities
- Design develop and execute test plans test cases and test scripts for ETL processes data migrations and data warehousing.
- Validate data extraction transformation and loading to ensure that data flows accurately and efficiently from source to target systems.
- Work closely with developers data engineers and business analysts to understand data mapping business requirements and transformation logic.
- Perform back-end data validation using complex SQL queries to verify data integrity consistency and completeness.
- Identify document and report data defects and work collaboratively with the development team to ensure timely resolution.
- Conduct regression testing to ensure that new code or changes do not negatively impact existing data processes.
- Contribute to the enhancement of ETL testing strategies methodologies and best practices.
- Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle with an emphasis on data validation and quality assurance.
- Maintain and manage test data for effective and repeatable testing.
Required skills and qualifications
- Proven experience as an ETL QA Analyst with a strong understanding of data warehousing concepts ETL processes and methodologies.
- Expertise in writing complex SQL queries for data validation and verification.
- Hands-on experience with ETL tools such as Informatica Talend or Microsoft SSIS.
- Familiarity with test management and defect-tracking tools like Jira HP ALM or Azure DevOps.
- Experience in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a distributed team.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively within a fast-paced environment
Preferred qualifications
Desired qualifications include experience with cloud-based data platforms scripting languages (Python or Shell) performance testing of data pipelines and data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks is also a plus
