Senior Software Engineer Infrastructure Tooling

Location: Seattle WA (Hybrid)

Overview:

Starbucks is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer / Software Engineer to join their Infrastructure Tooling team. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned software engineer with strong cloud and infrastructure experience who is passionate about building internal tools and automation systems.

Required Skills & Experience:

Programming & Scripting:

Strong Python development experience

Shell scripting for automation and system tasks

Infrastructure as Code & Automation:

Proficiency with Terraform Ansible Docker Kubernetes

CI/CD pipeline development and maintenance

Infrastructure automation and configuration management

Software Engineering:

Strong problem-solving and software design background

Experience building internal tools and platforms

Familiarity with distributed systems and microservices

Cloud & DevOps:

Experience with AWS and/or Azure

Containerization and orchestration in production environments

Monitoring and observability tools (e.g. Prometheus Grafana)

Database Experience:

Proficiency with both SQL and NoSQL databases

Experience with database architecture and administration

Development Practices:

Agile/Scrum methodologies

Git-based source control and CI/CD best practices

Minimum Qualifications:

8 years in software engineering

4 years in application development

4 years of automation/scripting with Python

8 years with infrastructure automation tools (Ansible Terraform Chef Puppet)

8 years building CI/CD pipelines

6 years deploying production code using Docker

Experience with large-scale distributed systems (e.g. Java/Spring Boot Kafka Spark)

Preferred Skills:

Experience with streaming platforms: Kafka NATS Kinesis Event Hub

Familiarity with Databricks Apache Spark ElasticSearch

API management tools like Apigee

Monitoring tools: Datadog New Relic
