Description of Work
The Assistant Director of School Climate & Standards is a Non-Sworn/Administrative position within the North Carolina Center for Safer Schools (CFSS). The Center is designed to address the problem of school and youth-related violence and serve as a customer-focused information center for research training and technical assistance related to school safety crisis prevention and response.This position provides leadership and oversight of statewide initiatives designed to improve school climate enhance student engagement and ensure the safety and well-being of students across North Carolina. Reporting directly to the Executive Director this position supervises multiple program staff manages strategic school safety initiatives and serves as a critical liaison with state and community partners. The Assistant Director also plays a key role in shaping school discipline standards monitoring anonymous reporting systems and advancing prevention programs aligned with the CFSS mission. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) withBenefits.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities / Competencies
The Minimum Education and Experience (E&E) is REQUIRED to qualify for this position.All work history and education (including accurate dates of employment/attendance) must be documented on the application. Management Preferences:
- Demonstrated experience supervising staff and managing statewide or large-scale programs.
- Knowledge of K-12 school climate issues including bullying substance use gangs discipline and student engagement.
- Strong collaboration skills with law enforcement schools and community-based organizations.
- Excellent communication problem-solving and crisis management abilities.
Selected candidates will undergo and must successfully complete a comprehensive background investigation which includes: credit and arrest checks; interviews with associates personal and business references; verification interviews of employers; verification of education achievement; urinalysis drug screening; and submission of fingerprints.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
