A secondary school in Richmond is looking for a Pastoral Assistant to join their dedicated pastoral team. This Pastoral Assistant role is focused on supporting pupils social emotional and mental wellbeing helping them to overcome barriers to learning. It is well suited to those who want to pursue a career in education psychology youth work or counselling.
The Pastoral Assistant role involves working with pupils on a one-to-one basis monitoring attendance supporting behaviour and providing mentoring. You will also contribute to the schools wider wellbeing programme by assisting with pastoral workshops interventions and family engagement. This role provides a valuable opportunity to learn how schools create supportive environments where pupils can achieve academically and personally.
As a Pastoral Assistant you will gain insight into safeguarding restorative approaches and strategies to support young people with a variety of needs. This role is an excellent stepping stone for individuals considering careers in counselling social care or pastoral leadership in education.
Key responsibilities:
- Providing one-to-one mentoring and guidance
- Supporting pupils with behaviour attendance and engagement
- Assisting in the delivery of wellbeing workshops and pastoral programmes
- Working with teachers families and outside agencies where required
