This position provides strength-based family-centered services for young children under three years of age who have developmental delays or are at risk of a developmental delay. Services are designed to meet the needs of each infant or toddler and the needs of their family. Provides services with the goal of enhancing the childs communication physical cognitive social-emotional and adaptive skills.I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Provides direct intervention services to children 0 - 3 and their families in natural settings.
2. Carries out service coordination functions when appropriate as defined by the Early Intervention standards.
3. Conducts evaluations and other assessments.
4. Develops and implements Individual Family Service Plans.
5. Assists in transition planning prior to discharge from the program.
6. Referrals to outside agencies as needed.
7. Maintains client records and other administrative duties according to DPH and Lipton Early Intervention policies.
Specialty Position Responsibilities:
1. Occupational Therapist-Knowledge of theories of sensory integration movement/vestibular activities proprioceptive input tactile activities oral motor stimulation and activities to facilitate mature grasp patterns eye-hand coordination bilateral coordination visual motor coordination-space and form perception.
2. Demonstrates knowledge of typical infant/toddler development in perceptual/fine motor gross motor cognition language and communication self-care and personal/social areas
3. Demonstrate the ability to support positive child and family development.
4. Develops functional intervention techniques appropriate for infants and toddlers with atypical development.
Standard Staffing Level Responsibilities:
1. Complies with established departmental policies procedures and objectives.
2. Attends variety of meetings conferences seminars as required or directed.
3. Demonstrates use of Quality Improvement in daily operations.
4. Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements.

6. Maintains regular reliable and predictable attendance.

II. Position Qualifications:
License/Certification/Education:
Required:
1. Bachelors degree in Occupational Therapy approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
2. Current Occupational Therapist license by the Massachusetts Board of Allied Health Professions; license in good standing.
3. Satisfactory CORI review as outlined in the regulations set by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services.
4. Current valid US-Issued drivers license and the ability to provide a registered and insured automobile for work related purposes including travel between in-person visits/sites.
5. DPHs CEIS Certification or eligible for certification.
6. NPI (National Provider Identifier number) or apply for NPI.
7. CPR and First Aid Certification or obtain certification within six (6) months on the job.
Experience/Skills:
Required:
1. Ability to work independently and contribute to the overall success of the team.
2. Flexibility excellent interpersonal skills verbal written and communications skills.
Preferred:
1. Experience providing services to young children and families.
Unless certification licensure or registration is required an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.
III. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:
Work is considered light. Position requires work indoors in a normal office environment and travel to client homes.
