We are seeking Kiche (also spelled Quiché) Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Kiche is a critical rare language of Guatemala often requested for asylum and immigration cases.
Responsibilities
- Provide real-time Kiche English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers applicants and stakeholders.
- Interpret with accuracy impartiality and professionalism in immigration legal and administrative settings.
- Adhere to USCIS/DHS compliance standards and interpreter ethics.
- Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge calls.
- Participate in training compliance refreshers and quality assurance reviews.
Qualifications
- Native or near-native fluency in Kiche (Quiché) and English.
- 2 years of interpreting experience (immigration legal community or government preferred).
- Familiarity with interpreter ethics confidentiality and cultural sensitivity.
- Strong telephone communication skills; ability to remain neutral and accurate.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 federal clearance.
