Investigator or Senior Investigator Wellington
The Serious Fraud Office (SFO) is a highly specialised government department whose mission is to disrupt and deter serious complex fraud through prevention investigation and prosecution. We take pride in the work we do to keep New Zealand safe from fraud and corruption.
We employ a talented team of lawyers forensic accountantsinvestigators electronic forensic investigators counter fraud and policy experts to do just that and importantly we have a small corporate services team that supports our operational teams. About the role
The SFO seeks an Investigator or Senior Investigator to join our team based in The Terrace Wellington. This is a full-time permanent employment status role.
In this role you will report to a Principal and work in a multi-disciplinary team with Electronic Forensic Investigators Investigators Forensic Accountants and Investigating Lawyers. You will contribute to the investigation strategy of a case. You will use your experience to plan and execute the various operational phases of an investigation including interviewing search warrants and evidence review - using the SFOs electronic evidence management platforms Relativity and Intella and you will participate in the production of investigation reports and the presentation of those reports to the Director.
About you
To be successful in this role you have investigative experience and technical knowledge and skills to investigate and prosecute serious or complex financial crime. You have either experience as a qualified Detective with a law enforcement agency or as a fraud investigator with a government agency regulator or financial institution. Of particular importance is that you have a proven record of success in this type of role and that you have worked collaboratively with other specialists to build compelling cases. You are known for your thoroughness dependability and sound judgement and retain these attributes when working within time constraints and on matters of significance. Previous experience in investigations and litigation of financial crime matters such as investment fraud procurement fraud large scale mortgage fraud as well as bribery and corruption is highly beneficial. You will have strong verbal and written communication skills for writing reports and presenting findings.
