We are looking to appoint an inspirational Teaching Assistant with experience of working with pupils with ASD and complex needs. You would join a dynamic and dedicated team who are committed to the development of the whole child and harnessing individual strengths and interests.

The school is inclusive. Precise identification of the needs of pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) is a real strength of the schools provision. Pupils with SEND get the support that they need to succeed and achieve well. Pupils who learn in the specialist resource base receive bespoke and effective support to prepare them well for their next steps in learning.

You will
Work under the direction of the class teacher and Inclusion Team to support pupils with ASD in accessing the curriculum
Lead small group and/ or 1-2-1 teaching sessions
Adapt tasks and activities to meet individual needs.
Provide calm structured responses to challenging behaviour.
Support pupils in developing social communication and interaction skills.
Set up and maintain structured low-arousal learning spaces.
Partake in professional development programme
Encourage peer interaction and independence wherever possible.

Main Purpose of Job
Work under the guidance of the class teacher and Inclusion Team to support the teaching learning and development of pupils with autism in the Resource Base.
Help create and maintain a calm structured and supportive environment that meets the sensory and learning needs of pupils with ASD.
Promote inclusion so that all children regardless of need have equal access to learning opportunities.
Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children.
