Overview
The Vermont Department of Health is seeking an Administrative Services Coordinator I for the Commissioners office. This position has the direct responsibility of preparing and maintaining items essential to the daily operations for two Deputy Commissioners and other senior staff within the office including meeting scheduling coordinating travel arrangements preparing presentations and writing correspondence. The Coordinator will interact with the staff throughout the Department on a daily basis and will also have a role in orienting new staff to the Commissioners office answering questions and providing services as they relate to building access.
The Administrative Services Coordinator will act as a business liaison on relevant financial and business matters. The Coordinator will also provide technical support track and manage workflow for documents requiring signatures and assist in preparation of confidential information. This position will also manage special projects like the annual public service recognition event and Vermont Shares Campaign.

AHS BACKGROUND CHECKS: Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the accordance with AHS Policy 4.02 Hiring Standards Vermont and/or national criminal record checks as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks as appropriate to the position under recruitment will be conducted on candidates with the exception of those who are current classified state employees seeking transfer promotion or demotion into an AHS classified position or are persons exercising re-employment (RIF) rights.

Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent AND two (2) years or more of experience providing administrative-level support to a business or organization.
OR
One year of full-time college coursework in accounting business or public administration office administration or closely related field AND one (1) year or more of experience providing administrative-level support to a business or organization.
OR
Two years of full-time college coursework OR and associates degree in accounting business or public administration office administration or closely related field.
OR
One (1) year or more of experience as an Administrative Services Technician IV with the State of Vermont.
Preferred Qualifications
Highly organized
Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft software products such as Outlook Excel Word PowerPoint
Strong decision making ability and attention to detail
Customer-service oriented
Special Requirements
For some positions experience working with the VISION system VISION is the State of Vermont PeopleSoft financial management system may be required.
NOTE: Only administrative work experience is qualifying. Administrative support includes those functions which keep the organization running or provide the resources for others to provide the programmatic work (e.g. accounting budget management grant administration finance human resources payroll purchasing or space management).
