Job Description
English teacher develops and delivers engaging lessons on literature grammar and writing fosters student growth in reading comprehension and critical thinking manages the classroom evaluates student progress through assessments and communicates with parents and colleagues. Key duties include creating lesson plans integrating technology adapting instruction for diverse learners and promoting a supportive and inspiring learning environment.
Core Responsibilities
Curriculum & Lesson Planning:
Create lesson plans that align with curriculum standards covering grammar vocabulary writing and literature.
Instruction:
Teach students how to read write speak and comprehend the English language effectively.
Student Assessment:
Evaluate student understanding and progress through assignments essays tests and projects.
Classroom Management:
Maintain a positive disciplined and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Communication:
Effectively communicate with students parents and colleagues regarding student performance and needs.
Support & Feedback:
Provide individualized feedback and support to help students develop their language skills.
Technology Integration:
Utilize technology and multimedia to enhance lessons and student engagement.
Key Skills & Qualifications
Education:
A bachelors degree in English or education often supplemented by a teaching certification or license.
Subject Matter Expertise:
Strong knowledge of English language literature grammar and writing principles.
Pedagogical Skills:
The ability to develop engaging lesson plans manage classrooms and differentiate instruction for various learning styles.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication for interacting with students and adults.
Critical Thinking:
The ability to foster critical thinking and analytical skills in students.
Adaptability:
Flexibility to adapt lesson plans and teaching methods to meet diverse student needs.
Organizational Skills:
Strong organizational skills to manage curriculum records and classroom activities.
Common Tasks
Answering student questions and providing guidance on assignments.
Taking attendance and maintaining student records.
Collaborating with other teachers and participating in faculty meetings.
Mentoring students leading projects and organizing extracurricular activities.
Participating in professional development to stay updated on educational trends and best practices
Developing a careful and creative program suitable for preschool children. Employing a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media etc.) to teach children. Observing each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
