Brief Description of Duties
The Program Assistant (PA) provides general services for the Office of the President. Participates in planning administration coordination support and/or research activities with a focus on the Universitys strategic initiatives in Wards 7 and 8. The incumbent will report directly to the Director Community-to-Career Partnership who will provide continuing or individual assignments and be based out of an office at Anacostia High School (or similar locations as the situation warrants).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts projects including supporting events under the guidance of Office of the President with a special focus on C-to-C.
  • Supports UDC Enrollment Services by operating a Satellite UDC Recruitment Office in Ward 8 subject to the UDC Enrollment Services requirements.
  • Serves as an ambassador for the University and its programs to the K-12 educational pipeline in Wards 7 and 8.
  • Provides information and responds to inquiries.
  • Prepares reports and presentations.
  • Develops or creates systems processes or materials subject to supervisory review and approval.
  • Organizes and maintains various office files reviews and indexes materials in order to assure ready access to filed documents; and maintains records of incoming and outgoing correspondence and action documents.
  • Assists in the preparation and implementation of orientation and registration activities required by Office of the President.
  • Understands complies and applies UDC rules and regulations.
  • Serves as an ambassador for UDC and its programs.
  • Assists other personnel with tasks required for projects.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  1. Incumbent is required to have at least a Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.

Residency Preference: The Residency Preference Amendment Act of 1988 D.C. Law 7-203 created a system in which provides that any applicant for employment in the Career or Educational Services who is a bona fide resident of the District of Columbia may claim a residency reference at the time of application. An applicant selected for an appointment based on District residency will be required to submit no less than eight (8) proofs of bona fide District residency. Bona fide District residency must be maintained from the date of appointment to the position for seven (7) consecutive years. Failure to maintain bona fide District residency for the (7) year period will result in forfeiture of employment.

Drug-Free Workplace: Pursuant to the requirements of the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988 the individual selected to fill this position will as a condition of employment be required to notify his/her immediate supervisor in writing not later than five (5) days after conviction of any criminal drug statute occurring in the workplace.

Background Investigation: Employment with the University of the District of Columbia is contingent upon a satisfactory background investigation. The determination of a satisfactory backgroundinvestigation is made at the sole discretion of the University of the District of Columbia. The University may refuse to hire a finalist rescind an offer of employment to a finalist or review and may terminate the employment of a current employee based on the results of a background investigation.
