Federal Work Study - Esports Production Studio Coordinator supports live and recorded Esports productions by coordinating the broadcast control room and studio operations for ArtU Esports. The Production Studio Coordinator helps plan staff and run show days (Tournaments scrims and official on-campus NACE matches); oversees equipment readiness; maintains routing and graphics packages; and ensures high-quality streams and VOD archives.
In addition this Federal Work Study role provides hands-on experience in technical direction live streaming workflows and studio management aligned with students degree programs.
Show Operations
Build and maintain run-of-show docs; call shows or support the Technical Director during broadcasts.
Configure and monitor OBS/NDI (or approved switching software) scenes audio buses replay graphics and stream health (bitrate dropped frames).
Coordinate camera/lighting setups (PTZ or fixed) audio (mixers XLR mics headsets) and intercom/comms for casters and staff.
Manage graphics playback (lower thirds slates scorebugs) and integrate sponsor/University branding per guidelines.
Studio & Equipment Readiness
Maintain studio checklists; perform pre-flight and post-show QA.
Track equipment checkout (cameras capture cards headsets Stream Decks) and report issues.
Label coil and organize SDI/Cat6 runs; keep patch bays cable trays and storage tidy.
Scheduling & Crew Coordination
Help schedule student crew (TD audio replay graphics camera stage mgmt.); run quick trainings and dry-runs.
Post weekly production calendar and coordinate with coaches for match call times and venue access.
Content & Archives
Ensure VOD recording file naming and archival to approved storage.
Hand off match assets and timestamps to the Video/Graphics team for highlights and social clips.
Standards & Safety
Enforce studio etiquette equipment handling and brand guidelines.
Follow University policies for lab access room reservations and incident reporting.
Qualifications:
Familiarity with live streaming workflows: OBS (or vMix) NDI capture cards scene design streaming settings.
Working knowledge of audio basics (gain staging mixers XLR monitoring) and camera/lighting fundamentals.
Comfort with routing and connectivity (HDMI/SDI/Cat6) device setup and basic troubleshooting under time pressure.
Strong organizational skills: checklists run-of-show documents labeling gear tracking and neat cable management.
Effective communication; ability to collaborate with coaches casters and student crew and to train peers on tasks.
Ability to meet timelines with attention to detail; calm under live-show conditions.
Able to work some evenings/weekends aligned with match schedules (up to 20 hours/week).
Passion for Esports broadcasting and live production.
Preferred: experience with Stream Deck replay tools basic networking (IP addressing) and graphics packages (Photoshop/After Effects).
Preferred: sample reel VOD links or portfolio demonstrating production or broadcast work.
Onsite Work Procedures:
Start-of-shift check-in with the Director (or designee) for assignments and studio priorities.
End-of-shift handoff: update the show log equipment status and submit hours per University timesheet policy.
Store all media and documents on approved onsite drives/servers; adhere to file-naming and backup conventions.
Comply with studio safety equipment handling and room reservation procedures at all times.

Pay Rate: $19.18 per hour

Length of Employment: The students starting term at the Academy of Art University through graduation.
