Accounting Director
Summary:
The Accounting Director is responsible for leading the organizations Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) operations across multiple entities and geographic regions. This role provides strategic oversight of cash flow internal controls systems optimization and process transformation to support business growth financial accuracy and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is a hands-on results-driven leader with deep technical expertise a track record of building high-performing teams and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally to deliver impactful financial and operational outcomes.
Responsibilities:
Oversee Accounting including all of AP/AR functions ensuring timely accurate and compliant transaction processing billing cash applications and collections across multiple business units.
Own month-end and year-end close processes related to AP/AR including reconciliations accruals journal entries and audit preparation.
Provide leadership to the Accounting teams including supervisors and managers with a focus on team development performance management and succession planning.
Lead strategic initiatives to enhance the procure-to-pay and order-to-cash cycles driving automation efficiency and accountability.
Establish and enforce best-in-class accounting policies procedures and internal controls aligned with GAAP and company standards.
Collaborate with Procurement Sales Merchandising Treasury and Operations to align financial workflows with broader business priorities.
Analyze AR aging and vendor payment terms to support working capital optimization and cash flow forecasting.
Evaluate and enhance ERP systems and accounting platforms to improve data integrity reporting accuracy and workflow automation.
Prepare and present dashboards KPIs and AP/AR performance insights to executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external auditors for AP/AR-related processes and documentation.
Monitor compliance with evolving accounting standards and recommend changes in procedures or systems to ensure adherence.
Lead or support finance transformation initiatives including system upgrades M&A integration and scalable operational design.
Perform other duties as assigned by executive management.
Qualifications:
A Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field is required; CPA MBA or equivalent advanced certification is preferred.
10 years of progressive accounting experience with at least 5 years in a management or director-level role focused on AP/AR.
Proven leadership experience in high-volume multi-location or multi-entity environments.
Experience in retail wholesale or distribution industries is strongly preferred.
Bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese is required.
Strong command of GAAP cash management strategies internal controls and operational accounting best practices.
Demonstrated success in leading teams through systems implementation automation and process reengineering.
Hands-on experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite Oracle SAP or similar platforms.
Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills and the ability to analyze large data sets and translate insights into action.
Effective communicator with executive presence and the ability to influence across departments and senior leadership.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
