Software Development Engineer II, AMX Manager Hub

As an SDE II in AMX (Amazon Managers Experiences previously known as Global Talent Mangement and Compensation) Manager Hub team youll lead cross functional projects spanning Applied Science Front End and Backend engineering disciplines. You will build infrastructure and user experiences that deliver insights to Amazonians to help them complete Talent Management processes more efficiently and equitably. Youll be hands on while also leading other individual contributors to define and deliver on a roadmap that works backwards from our three year and operational plans. Youll be responsible for delivering and maintaining high quality operationally sound software with strong controls around data security and privacy.

Key job responsibilities
Write maintainable well-structured and testable code to advance your in-flight project and submit a code review to the team
Design a system to solve an Amazon scale problem and present a design document to the team to build consensus on your recommended approach
Attend a team-level operations review meeting to understand system health and identify actions we need to take to keep the system available for our clients
Meet with a customer to understand the problems they are facing brainstorm solutions and discuss with your management to affect team priorities
Review a teammates code change and raise the bar on team code quality by providing insightful comments
Research new technologies that could help simplify your teams system and draft a message to the team with your findings
Root cause and resolve a trouble ticket filed by a customer of your system
Attend a one to one meeting with your manager to receive support on your work and discuss career development

A day in the life
Your typical day involves architecting and building robust solutions that power critical business initiatives. Youll participate in technical design discussions write and review code and optimize existing solutions for performance and reliability. Youll dive deep into production issues implement solutions that enhance system stability and build new capabilities into our platforms. Cross-team collaboration is key as youll work closely with various teams to maintain system requirements and optimize workflows.

Within Amazon Management Experiences (AMX) this role contributes to delivering leadership experiences and career development tools that serve all Amazonians globally. As part of a 1400 person organization the position supports AMXs mission to enhance leadership capabilities and career growth across Amazons diverse business units. The team leverages enterprise-scale technology solutions and collaborates across multiple domains to create and maintain systems that impact employee development leadership effectiveness and organizational health. - 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2 years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

- 3 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
- Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
