The ideal candidate will not only coach and guide teams but may also be hands-on in driving project success.
Contributions
As aSenior Project Manager you will ensure that the project teams maintain a strong focus on quality and continuous delivery while providing clear visibility into project targets commitments and progress.
- Ensures team(s) maintain focus on quality and continuous delivery.
- Provides visibility into delivery targets commitments and progress.
- Creates roadmaps and milestone charts for the project.
- Be well managed understand and coach the team on delivery controls compliance to minimize operational and reputational risk.
- Proactively identifies impediments and appropriately resolves using a network of peers and formal channels (including escalation if required).
- Integrates Agile and Lean principles into team practices and work product.
- Coaches Product Owner and team on backlog refinement and prioritization.
- Coaches the team to improve collaboration and self-organization.
- Utilizes team feedback and metrics (quality delivery rate etc.) to identify areas of opportunity and works with the team to continuously improve.
- Assesses the current organization and delivery environment and recommends optimal Agile practices tailored to the client.
- Innovates with practices and frameworks through experimentation to improve the team and their delivery.
- Develops understanding and encouragement of teams innovation and improvement.
- Prepares and delivers effective communications both verbally and in writing regarding progress and status for both internal and client teams.
- Performs hands-on project work including analysis design and change management as needed by the project.
- Understands domain architecture and targets to identify upstream and downstream dependencies and to support the team in risk management.
Qualifications
- Ability to obtain a U.S. government Public Trust Security Clearance
- Bachelors degree and 7 years of experience
- 8 years managing IT projects using Agile methodologies and approaches; proven background in consulting and project management
- PMP certification OR an additional five (5) years of project management experience in lieu of the PMP certification
- Local to Washington DC metro area
- Experience managing cloud-based projects
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) with strong presentation and facilitation skills
- Ability to establish immediate credibility with clients build consensus and achieve goals through influence
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- This position will require travel to the client site at least two (2) times per week in Bethesda MD
Preferred
- Previous work experience in or with the federal government
- Possesses at least one professional certification relevant to the technical service provided
- Ability to help teams write user stories/epics identify dependencies and design optimal solutions
About steampunk
Steampunk relies on several factors to determine salary including but not limited to geographic location contractual requirements education knowledge skills competencies and experience. The projected compensation range for this position is $150000 to $190000. The estimate displayed represents a typical annual salary range for this position.
