Job Summary
The Technical Manager is responsible for leading the daily plant operations in set-up and plant engineering departments. Responsible for supervising teams under areas of responsibilities to ensure plant production goals and quality standards are met. Responsible for achieving sustainable results and improvement goals in safety customer service quality operational excellence cost & productivity and plant organizational capability.
Principal Responsibilities
- Lead team of set-up supervisor & plant engineers and responsible to set their performance goals & objectives.
- Accountable for achieving performance goals & objectives assigned to direct reports
- Support Plant Manager in organizing and managing day-to-day activities for safe plant operations.
- Lead daily meetings with direct reports/teams in assigning and prioritizing daily activities for the plant.
- Ensure plant employees are following and enforce safety policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with Plant Management team in resolving plant issues in a timely manner.
- Maintain proper documentation for all plant related activities within assigned areas of responsibilities.
- Ensure materials supplies and equipment are readily and continuously available for assigned teams to carry out safe plant operation process.
- Implement continuous plant improvements for increased productivity and scrap reduction.
- Implement cost reduction initiatives to minimize plant and labour expenditures.
- Optimize plant operations to meet quality and production standards.
- Supervise plant operations in assigned areas of responsibilities to meet production requirements in timely and cost-effective manner.
- Evaluate current operations and make recommendations for improving efficiency and productivity.
- Drive positive cultural change as a change agent within the plants to engage employees towards a high-performance work systems culture.
- Ensures tracking daily management and use of key performance indicators (KPIs) to promote improved operational and business results.
- Other duties as assigned by Plant Manager
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelors Degree and experience in Plant Management
- Degree in Engineering considered an asset.
- Certification and/or experience with Six Sigma Process and Lean Manufacturing considered an asset.
Technical Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years supervisory experience in manufacturing environment
- Must be proficient with MS Office Suite
- Experience with ISO standards
- Shipping and logistic experience considered an asset.
