The University of North Alabama invites applications for the position of non-tenure-track Lecturer of Criminal Justice/Crime Scene Investigation in the Department of Politics Justice Law and Philosophy to begin in August of 2026. Possible on-campus courses of instruction include but are not limited to introduction to criminal justice criminal law ethics substance abuse criminal investigation criminal evidence criminal procedure police organization and community relations forensic investigation forensic investigation lab bloodstain pattern analysis bloodstain pattern analysis lab crime scene reconstruction and evidence management. Salary is commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position has been filled. The successful candidate must reside within commuting distance of UNA; teach courses primarily in person; maintain a standard 5-5 teaching load; academically advise students each semester; demonstrate excellence in teaching; facilitate professional development; render university community and professional service; hold regular office hours; coordinate/participate in crime scene training experiential activities; engage in mock courtroom testimony exercises with students; conduct evidence collection tool/equipment audits; and physically transport crime scene tool/equipment across campus via a handcart.
Minimum qualifications include a master of science degree in criminal justice (or other closely related discipline); at least two years of field experience as a criminal investigator crime scene investigator evidence manager or a certified medicolegal death investigator; familiarity with painting with light crime scene photography techniques; and mastery of or the ability to acquire the mastery of bloodstain pattern analysis software; bullet trajectory lasers; BlueStar; DSLR cameras; presumptive blood field test kits; dual contrast fingerprint powder; impression casting using dental stone and mikrosil.
