Business Manager
Job Description
JOB GOAL:
The business manager is responsible for administering the financial affairs of the district in a manner that ensures the efficient use of resources in support of the districts educational mission.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma required; bachelors degree in finance business or accounting preferred.
- North Dakota School Business Manager Certification (or willingness to obtain within the required timeframe).
- Experience in accounting finance or school business operations preferred.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Management & Budget
- Advise the Board and Superintendent on financial and budgetary matters.
- Prepare manage and monitor the annual budget and mill levy certification.
- Ensure the district receives all available county state and federal financial entitlements.
- Oversee accounts payable accounts receivable and payroll processes.
- Receive manage and safeguard all district funds including investments and purchasing.
- Maintain bond and debt records.
- Prepare distribute and file all required financial reports.
Auditing & Compliance
- Coordinate annual audits and implement audit recommendations.
- Establish and maintain accurate financial records in compliance with law and policy.
- Ensure the security and confidentiality of business records.
Board & Administrative Support
- Assist with purchases requiring formal bidding.
- Provide financial data for negotiations and strategic planning.
- Attend Board and assigned meetings record minutes when required and ensure timely distribution.
- Provide timely accurate financial reports to the Board and Superintendent.
Risk Management
- Maintain accurate inventory of district property.
- File insurance claims and accident reports.
- Recommend appropriate insurance coverage to protect district assets.
Personnel & Benefits
- Administer employee benefits programs and provide information to staff.
- Maintain required personnel records as assigned.
- Process claims related to unemployment workers compensation and other benefits.
Elections
- Organize coordinate and supervise school district elections in compliance with law.
Community & Professionalism
- Maintain positive and professional relationships with staff board members and the public.
- Respond to open records requests.
- Stay current with financial and school business trends.
- Exhibit accountability honesty and professionalism in all duties.

- Business office staff as assigned by the Board of Education
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- This position constitutes an employee at will for the Stanley Community Public School District.
- Criminal history/background check required
WAGES AND BENEFITS:
- Salary and benefit as determined by the Board of Education.
