Department Summary

The University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for Adjunct Instructor openings for the academic year 2025-26. The successful candidate will be expected to achieve excellence in teaching. The Communication and Digital Media Department at UNT Dallas fosters innovation collaboration and real-world skill development in media communication and digital production. Through small classes expert faculty and hands-on learning the department prepares students to thrive in todays fast-paced media landscape. Located in the heart of Dallas it offers access to industry connections internships and emerging technologiesempowering students to become creative strategic and socially conscious communicators across diverse professional fields.

Position Overview

The number of vacancies is dependent on student enrollment division needs and dean approval. Your application cannot be considered until all required documents have been received. Please note that adjunct faculty are limited to teaching two courses per semester.
Adjunct faculty plan classes and implements and evaluates teaching/learning objectives and student learning outcomes. Adjunct faculty undertakes the divisional and professional responsibilities of a part-time faculty member including office hours.

Minimum Qualifications

A Masters degree in Communication Journalism Film Production Script Writing or other related discipline and outstanding experience or potential for excellence in teaching Communication-related courses.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

The successful applicant will be expected to provide quality instruction in undergraduate Communication & Digital Media courses matching the instructors background education and skills base. These offerings include courses in digital photography visual communication digital field production events communication literacy sports communication sports writing social media studio production public relations and advertising (writing strategy case studies and campaigns) and cinematography among others.
Adjunct faculty members may be required to use certain texts and meet certain parameters set by the Department of Communications and Digital Media. Adjunct instructors will also be required to include in their courses certain student assessment measures determined by the department and to compile data on those assessment criteria.

Preferred Qualifications

PhD or MFA in Communication or related field with significant experience in applied or professional communication.
Significant experience in college instruction.
Successful experience teaching adults in a post-secondary institution.
Excellent communication skills in multicultural settings.
Familiarity with online modes of delivery.
