Seymour John are proud to be partnering with a well-established and forward-thinking Accountancy Practice based in near Welshpool to recruit a conscientious detail-driven and solutions-focused Accounts Assistant. The Role

As an Accounts Assistant you will provide a wide range of general accountancy services within a practice setting supporting the delivery of accurate financial information and high-quality client service.

Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Preparing financial statements for limited companies partnerships and sole traders.
  • Supporting the preparation and completion of quarterly VAT returns.
  • Assisting with personal and corporate tax computations and returns.
  • Processing client payrolls (experience desirable but not essential).
  • Managing client relationships and acting as a trusted point of contact for queries.
  • Supporting and mentoring more junior colleagues where appropriate.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and HMRC requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

We are open to applicants who are qualified by exams (AAT / ACCA part-qualified) or qualified by experience. The key is your ability to demonstrate strong technical knowledge accuracy and a client-focused approach.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience preparing accounts using IRIS (or similar).
  • Confidence in working with incomplete records and trial balances.
  • Proficiency with accountancy software such as QuickBooks SAGE or Xero.
  • Strong IT skills including Office 365 (Excel Word and Outlook).
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage deadlines effectively.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal with a professional approach.
  • A collaborative self-motivated and proactive attitude.
  • A genuine desire to grow and progress within a supportive environment.
