Job Description

We have two exciting roles on offer within our Financial Planning and Business Partnering service for two Trainee Accountants.

Join Our Finance Team as a Trainee Accountant.

Are you passionate about building a career in public sector finance Do you want to make a real difference in your community while gaining a professional qualification

Were looking for two motivated and ambitious individuals to join our Finance Directorate as Trainee Accountants. These are structured training roles designed to support your development from Accounting Officer to Senior Accounting Officer combining hands-on experience with professional study through the CIPFA Level 7 Accountancy Apprenticeship.

What Youll Be Doing:

Supporting the Councils Medium Term Financial Planning process.

Assisting with budget preparation monitoring and year-end accounts.

Working across capital accounting reconciliations and financial transactions.

Gaining experience in Internal Audit and Resident & Business Support services.

Progressively taking on more complex financial responsibilities.

Developing leadership skills through mentoring and deputising opportunities.

What Were Looking For:

Minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grade 5/C or above) including Maths.

A recent degree or equivalent qualification (desirable).

A keen interest in local government finance.

Willingness to study for the CIPFA qualification and commit to professional development.

Strong communication analytical and IT skills.
