The Role

General Motors is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Program Manager to lead enterprise-wide privacy and regulatory compliance initiatives. This role is critical to measuring and managing GMs ongoing compliance with federal state and sectoral privacy and regulatory compliance requirements and regulations. The Program Manager will serve as a key operational partner to the legal software and services security data governance and engineering teamstranslating legal requirements into scalable auditable and sustainable processes that support innovation at GM and embed accountability into GMs development processes.


What Youll Do

  • Monitor and assess GMs compliance with regulatory obligations and evolving state and federal privacy laws and regulations.
  • Lead and maintain GMs US privacy requirements register.
  • Map requirements to accountable owners controls andauditable evidence.
  • Produce recurring metricsand status updates.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on evidence fitness for purpose and quality standards guiding stakeholders in translating requirements into repeatable processes and controls designed to be measured and managed.
  • Identify gaps and recommendscalable process control and automationimprovements.
  • Support internal and externalaudit and inquiry response.
  • Facilitate training and awareness campaigns to promote a culture of privacy and data stewardship across GM.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Experience in privacy compliance or regulatory program management preferably in a legal environment.
  • Solid understanding of U.S. privacy laws including FTC enforcement practices and state-level legislation.
  • Strong project management skills with experience leading cross-functional initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

What will give you a competitive edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience working under or implementing consent orders.
  • Certifications such as CIPP/US CIPM or PMP.
  • Familiarity with connected devices and software or hardware development.
  • Experience in automotive mobility or regulated industries.

Location: Hybrid. This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Renaissance Center Detroit MI three times per week at minimum or other frequency dictated by the business

Relocation: This role MAY be eligible for relocation benefits
