Prepress Technician

Description

Formulates concepts and executes layout designs for artwork and copy to be presented by visual communications media such as magazines books newspapers pamphlets brochures television posters and packaging by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Works directly with clients/sales through all design phases from concept development through desktop publishing

Lays out and produces all types of printable assignments by desktop publishing with the best creative solution

Keys in hard copy and formats and proofs the copy for publication formatting

Scans B/W and 4/C photos for high resolution output

Makes Iris or Kodak Approval proofs for proofing and press of such photos

Works with Mac operators for ripping and trapping

All other duties as assigned

Associates degree and two to four years related experience and/or training; or any equivalent combination of education and experience

Full comprehension in reading work instructions and business memos

Effective communications skills with all levels within the organization

Ability to use basic math skills such as addition subtraction multiplication division measurements and critical thinking to solve practical problems

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form

Must have the ability to work effectively in stressful situations and meet stringent deadlines

Be organized and able to plan prioritize and follow through on projects assigned with minimal supervision

Has basic computer skills

Must be self-motivated reliable and quality safety oriented
