Job Summary

The Teachers Retirement System (TRS) serves active and retired teachers and educators in the State of Montana. Its primary purpose is to administer their pension plan which includes (but is not limited to) payment of retirement benefits collection of member contributions and enrollment of new members.

We are looking for a dedicated individual skilled in payroll processing with excellent customer service skills to join our team! You would be assisting in all areas of the retired payroll process which encompass three payroll processes per month. You would also communicate retirement program information to our retirees. We are looking for the right candidate to fit into our organization with the potential to take on additional responsibilities over time. We are seeking just the right person to join our team and we are committed to helping the right candidate grow within our organization.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

A Bachelors degree in a business accounting or related field; and

Three years of experience with payroll retirement/benefits disability claims or accounting; or

Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Competencies:

Knowledge of:

Benefits and/or human resource administration

Montana laws and administrative rules

Payroll database systems and payroll processing;

Accounting principles and practices.

Ability to:

Communicate effectively and diplomatically both verbally and in writing;

Provide excellent customer service;

Accurately make complex calculations and comparisons;

Analyze complex problems using logic and quantitative reasoning;

Use analysis and judgment to make decisions;

Follow policies and procedures as well as identify potential operational efficiencies;

Build constructive and effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders;

Effectively work both in a team environment and independently;

Prioritize workload and to work on multiple tasks throughout work day;

Adapt to changing conditions and work responsibilities with optimism.
