Job Description:

Value technology seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer with strong analytical and communication skills to join our team at one of our client locations. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in mainframe technologies with optional experience in modern tools like IDz and Git for enhanced productivity and collaboration.

Primary Responsibilities:

Develop maintain and enhance mainframe applications using COBOL JCL VSAM and DB2
Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
Perform unit testing and support system/integration testing
Participate in code reviews and follow best practices for mainframe development
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality software delivery

Must-Have Skills:

Strong hands-on experience with COBOL JCL VSAM and DB2
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Good to Have:

Experience with CICS
Familiarity with IBM Developer for z/OS (IDz) an Eclipse-based IDE for mainframe development
Knowledge of Git for version control including branching merging and integration with CI/CD pipelines

Tools and Technologies:

IDz (IBM Developer for z/OS): A modern Eclipse-based IDE for mainframe application development. Offers code editing debugging remote dataset access and Git integration.
Git: Distributed version control system used for managing source code enabling collaboration tracking changes and integrating with CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments.
