Product Engineer – Vehicle Design & Development (AutomotiveConversion)

General Purpose:

We are seeking a Product Engineer to lead the design and development of new wheelchair-accessible vehicles from concept through launch. This role covers the design engineering and integration of all vehicle systems while ensuring alignment with cost quality and timing objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Engineer design and develop new vehicle conversions using CAD (Inventor).

• Design complex systems including mechanisms suspensions structures doors and liftgates.

• Plan and execute design procurement assembly and validation activities aligned with APQP processes.

• Ensure designs meet budget cost and quality targets.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with Manufacturing Quality Sales and Portfolio teams.

• Recommend low-cost alternatives standardization and design improvements.

• Build and engineer prototype vehicles.

• Participate and lead design/peer reviews to ensure compliance with requirements.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Strong background in mechanism design integration and tolerance analysis.

• Knowledge of vehicle engineering structural design sheet metal welding and LEAN principles.

• Experience with closures suspensions fuel exhaust cooling and braking systems.

• Skilled in FEA DFMEA/PFMEA DVP&R GD&T tolerance stack-up and 8D problem-solving.

• Proficiency in Inventor AutoCAD Vault Epicor (ERP) and MS Office.

• Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.

• Hands-on prototype fabrication and welding experience (preferred).
