Presbyterian Healthcare Services is offering student externships for our Rehabiliation Departments. Students who are looking to gain hands-on experience while still in school are highly encouraged to apply. The eligible programs for this specific requisition are:
Physicial Therapy (PT)
Occupational Therapy (OT)
Speech Therapy Assistant (SLP)
Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)
Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA)
*Stipend eligibility requires a commitment to full-time employment with Presbyterian after licensure.

Responsibilities
- Complete all current educational programs and other certification and/or licensure requirements related to their intended area of practice.
- Agree to fulfill an employment commitment at Presbyterian Hospital (or CDS Hospitals) per the terms of an employment contract with the organization.
- Maintain regular contact with your leader at Presbyterian providing updates on your progress toward graduation and completion of certification or licensure requirements at least twice (each semester).
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Actively enrolled as a student in an accredited program for one of the following disciplines:
Physicial Therapy (PT)
Occupational Therapy (OT)
Speech Therapy Assistant (SLP)
Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)
Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA)
preparing to meet all requirements for employment in one of the Allied Health jobs at Presbyterian. - Must graduate within 6 months of being hired into the Allied Health Student role.
- Upon graduation the student will transition through the hire right process into a licensed/certified Allied Health role at Presbyterian. All minimum requirements including specific licensure requirements of the Allied Health role must be met.
- Upon graduation failure to obtain full licensure and be hired in one of the mentioned disciplines will result in an unfulfilled contract and termination as outlined in signed agreements.
- Rehab Physical Therapist Physical Therapy Assistant Occupational Therapist Occupational Therapy Assistant or Speech Language Pathologist graduates must obtain New Mexico Temporary license at time of hire and pass the board exam within 180 days of hire.
