Job Description

What you will be doing:

  • Overload Permit Analysis

    • Analyze overload permit applications under supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer.
    • Review analysis results and recommend safe travel routes for overload vehicles (e.g. using ProMiles OHPS).
    • Interpret complex plans to support ODOT policy implementation and reduce risks

  • Bridge Design & Load Rating

    • Perform calculations for bridge design and update standard project specifications and plans.
    • Conduct load rating analysis for new and existing bridges and culverts.
    • Review and verify bridge rating calculations and computer-generated documents.
    • Interpret complex plans to support ODOT policy implementation.
    • Maintain historical data for bridges and culverts.
    • Prepare technical reports on bridge and culvert load ratings.
    • Assist in or conduct training sessions and seminars on bridge rating.
    • Prepare bridge posting reports as directed.

Bachelors degree in engineering; Accepted for Basic Fundamentals of Engineering Examination (EIT exam) by Ohio Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors.

This position is overtime eligible based on FLSA Standards.

All bargaining unit new hires must serve a one (1) year probationary period.
