Job Summary

Role Summary:

Quantum Signal AI is looking for a Research Engineering Intern to join us for the summer of 2026 to work on a variety of projects ranging from vehicle network communications and physics-based modeling to data analysis simulation and testing for advanced vehicle technologies. This is apaid internship opportunity offering valuable hands-on experience andeligibility for academic credit. Day to day you will apply core engineering principles hone software development skills and broaden your knowledge in whatever ways our diverse cross-disciplinary project portfolio may require. Location:

We are located in Saline Michigan. This position is in-person to encourage a culture of collaboration and mentorship.

What Youll Do:
  • Develop model simulate review and characterize combined hardware-software systems to improve fidelity and operation of automotive technologies
  • Write custom software and leverage/integrate existing tools to solve problems in system modeling vehicle motion controls and numerical methods
  • Support planning execution and analysis of data-collection exercises and test events
  • Produce high-quality documentation and present designs analyses results and status updates to a variety of stakeholders
  • Collaborate with mechatronics software and other research engineers as a member of various project-focused cross-functional engineering teams
What Youll Bring:
  • Current enrollment as a junior senior or graduate student in Mechanical Robotics or Electrical Engineering (or a related field)
  • Currentenrollmentin adegree-seeking program maintainingstudent status for the entire duration of the internship including the academic term immediately following the internship
  • Excellent software development skills gained through industry experience coursework or extra-curricular/personal projects
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Python and experience using Simulink
  • Familiarity with mathematical modeling numerical analysis simulation and data visualization
  • Strong grasp of engineering fundamentals linear algebra and calculus and a desire to learn about new technologies and frameworks
Bonus Points For:
  • Demonstrated ability to identify diagnose and troubleshoot technical problems pursuing pragmatic and creative solutions that support the wider project requirements
  • Previous non-academic internship or work experience
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team and presenting your work to an audience with varied backgrounds
  • Understanding of automotive systems subsystems and components
