Are you a team leader in environmental data and hydrography ready to drive impactful programs across government and industry Manly Hydraulics Laboratory is seeking to appoint a Team Leader Hydrometrics in an ongoing capacity to lead a high-performing team deliver complex stakeholder programs and shape the future of hydrometric services. Both people management and hydrometric experience are required.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team to deliver nationally significant technical and innovative professional services to meet client needs - in water quality flow tidal floodplain and meteorological measurement.

Manly Hydraulics Laboratory (MHL) provides specialist and impartial advice relating to coastal and water engineering and water flow assurance utilising physical and numerical modelling NATA accredited facilities and extensive data collection programs in water sewer stormwater irrigation coastal riverine and environmental systems. MHL is a business unit within the Water Group of the Department of Climate Change Energy the Environment and Water. The Water Group leads the NSW Government in providing confidence to communities and stakeholders with the transparent stewardship of water resources provision of services and reforms that support sustainable and healthy environments economies and societies across NSW.

About You

You will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience leading teams in a professional services environment: providing direction inspiration technical oversight and feedback to team members to achieve project outcomes.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Proven ability to manage large projects and programs with multiple stakeholders
  • Significant expertise in hydrography and environmental data recognised by client organisations.
  • Experience in technology appraisal selection deployment and application in key measurement fields.
  • A collaborative approach to working with government agencies such as the Bureau of Meteorology DCCEEW local councils and the broader water industry.

Essential Requirements

  • A professional engineering or environmental science degree with relevant experience or other relevant qualifications.
  • A valid NSW Drivers Licence and willingness and ability to drive and travel by air and road to remote locations which may include overnight stays.
