About the Role
We are looking for aBackend Engineer with experience in Machine Learning and Agentic AI systemsto help design and scale the infrastructure behind intelligent autonomous applications. Youll work at the intersection ofbackend engineering applied ML and AI agent orchestration building the APIs data pipelines and runtime frameworks that power next-generation AI-driven workflows.
If you enjoy solving complex distributed systems challenges experimenting with cutting-edge ML/LLM techniques and pushing the boundaries of how AI agents interact with humans and software this role is for you.
Responsibilities
- Architect implement and scale backend services that support ML-driven and agentic AI applications.
- Design APIs and microservices that integrate LLMs vector databases and knowledge retrieval systems.
- Build infrastructure for AI agents (task planning tool use orchestration state management).
- Ensure backend systems are reliable performant and secure at scale.
- Develop monitoring logging and observability for agent behaviors and ML pipelines.
- Work closely with product and design teams to translate requirements into scalable backend solutions.
- Stay current with emerging research in LLMs multi-agent systems and autonomous AI.
Requirements
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Strong backend engineering skills withPython
- Experience withcloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP)and containerization (Docker Kubernetes).
- Proficiency in buildingAPIs distributed systems and data pipelines.
- Hands-on experience withLLMs vector databases (Pinecone Weaviate FAISS Milvus) and ML deployment frameworks.
- Understanding ofagentic AI concepts(tool calling memory planning reasoning).
- Familiarity with ML frameworks such asPyTorch TensorFlow Hugging Face Transformers LangChain LlamaIndex.
- Solid knowledge of databases (SQL and NoSQL) and event-driven architectures.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity withLangGraphAutoGen or other agentic frameworks.
- Contributions to open-source ML or AI infrastructure projects.
- Exposure to MLOps tooling (MLflow Weights & Biases Ray Prefect Airflow).
- Background in security for AI systems (guardrails prompt injection defense data privacy).
- Experience withreinforcement learning multi-agent systems or fine-tuning LLMs.
At Adobe for sales roles starting salaries are expressed as total target compensation (TTC base commission) and short-term incentives are in the form of sales commission plans. Non-sales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and short-term incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).
In addition certain roles may be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of a new hire equity award.
