The Round Rock Fire Department Entrance Examination is governed by the Local Government Code Chapter 143 the Civil Service Commission Rules and the Meet & Confer Agreement with the Round Rock Firefighters Association.
An applicant may be certified in any or none of the following: Firefighter EMT and/or Paramedic.
Applicants must upload a copy of following:
DD-214 or statement of service on letterhead signed by a commander or their designated representative
Proof of any applicable certification(s) to include the highest level of firefighter certification from the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (i.e. basic structural firefighter intermediate advanced or master). Proof of EMT AEMT or paramedic certification or license through the National Registry Certification or the Texas Department of State Health Services and made a passing grade on the examination.
Transcript for the highest level of formal education from an accredited high school college or university.
The applicant must receive a minimum passing score of seventy (70) percent on the written examination to move on in the hiring process.
Position requires comprehensive study of fire procedures and all aspects of firefighting function in preparation for becoming a certified Firefighter and/or obtaining EMT certification.
Position requires continued daily attendance at the Fire Department Training Academy successful completion of written tests participation in physical fitness related activities as required by training academy and completing academic requirements to obtain Structure Fire Suppression certification through the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) and EMT certification through the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS).
Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age to take the written exam and may not be forty (40) years of age or older at the start of employment.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Prior military service if any must have concluded with an honorable discharge and requires from DD-214 for verification.
Must possess or have the ability to obtain an appropriate valid Texas drivers license and possess a driving record which meets current City auto liability insurance requirements.
Be authorized to work in the United States.
