About the Opportunity
We are recruiting for an Associate Personal Injury Solicitor or CILEX Lawyer to join a leading Yorkshire law firm with over 20 branches across the region. This is a unique opportunity to specialise in military personal injury matters working on high-profile and politically sensitive cases within a supportive and established team environment.
The Role
- Military personal injury caseload: Managing a diverse portfolio of military claims under supervision including defective equipment training injuries and cold injuries
- Ministry of Defence claims: Bringing complex claims against the MOD and handling applications/appeals relating to Armed Forces Compensation Scheme and Armed Forces Pension Schemes
- Assault and discrimination cases: Managing sensitive cases involving bullying harassment and discrimination within military settings
- AFCS claims management: Handling Armed Forces Compensation Scheme claims with expertise in military-specific procedures and regulations
- Noise induced hearing loss: Specialising in hearing loss claims specific to military environments and equipment exposure
- Case preparation and advocacy: Preparing comprehensive case files liaising with medical experts and representing clients at hearings
- Client care and communication: Providing compassionate support to military personnel and veterans throughout their claims journey
- Legal research and analysis: Conducting detailed research into military law regulations and precedent cases
- Expert liaison: Working with military medical experts occupational health specialists and military personnel
- High-profile case management: Handling politically sensitive cases requiring discretion and exceptional attention to detail
What Were Looking For
- Qualified Solicitor or CILEX Lawyer with 3-5 years PQE
- Experience in military claims and knowledge of MOD procedures preferred
- Understanding of Armed Forces Compensation Scheme and Armed Forces Pension Schemes
- Strong personal injury law background with litigation experience
- Excellent communication skills with ability to handle sensitive cases
- Proven ability to manage complex caseloads independently
- Experience working with medical experts and preparing expert evidence
- Strong analytical and research skills
- Discretion and professionalism when handling high-profile matters
- Commitment to providing exceptional client care to military personnel and veterans
